Unite has reached an agreement with the Munnelly Group and its subsidiaries to resolve the ongoing legal proceedings regarding the worker status of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) contractors and other individuals.
Vince McCoy, Regional Officer from Unite, said “I am pleased to confirm that the employment tribunal litigation which started in 2019 on behalf of 41 Unite members has been resolved to the satisfaction of our members. This has resulted in some of our members moving into full-time employment with the company and others who had left being re-engaged onto contracts of employment. In addition, I will be meeting with the Munnelly Group to discuss Unite’s relationship with the Group going forward. Any such relationship will have to be based on protecting and safeguarding members employment rights in the company. Unite remain committed to defending our members jobs, pay and conditions.”
Phil Munnelly, Chief Executive Officer of Munnelly Group, said “Historically we have enjoyed a good relationship with Unite. We are now keen to move that relationship onto a more positive footing and have committed to exploratory talks through regular meetings with Unite. We have always been and remain committed to supporting the wellbeing and welfare of all our people and hope that the meetings we have committed to are a further means of facilitating that.”
