“I’m lucky to be supported in everything I do here.” – Emma Imberg on her return to Munnelly Group

Jul 2, 2025 | People

Emma Imberg is our Resourcing and Retention Manager. She is currently in her second role with us after leaving for a short period before returning to Munnelly Group in 2024. We spoke to her to learn more about her decision to return and what her new role involves.

“I very much feel that I am valued as an individual at Munnelly Group. I’m lucky to be supported in everything I do here.”

Emma first joined Munnelly Group in 2022 where she worked for our group subsidiary brand, City Calling, a specialist construction recruitment agency. Her role involved in-house recruitment for the group, as well as for external clients.

After a brief hiatus, Emma couldn’t resist returning to the group where she was welcomed back with open arms, this time working for the central team at Munnelly Group. Settling back in was a dream – she even came back to her old desk!

So, we were dying to know: what attracted her back into working for the group? Emma explained: “As cheesy as it sounds, it was our core values – Trust, Collaboration & Innovation. They’re the secret behind the strong, positive culture here! At Munnelly Group, we actually stick to our values and it’s not just something we say for show.”

Working in recruitment herself, Emma knows more than the average person about the power of creating a strong workplace culture. People retention is a particular passion of hers. “Since coming back to the group, there are now more elements to my role and a big one is retention. I have always worked in recruitment, but have never been involved in retention strategy before,” she said.

Emma is pleased to work for a company where retention and valuing people is a firm commitment. Career development and training is a huge part of that retention strategy.

Rejoining the group after a break solidified Emma’s view on what makes Munnelly Group unique: the ambition to always be improving. Whether that’s as a company, or as individuals.

She commented:

“Returning to the group, it was nice to see how much they had come on since my departure. The company is always looking to improve and build on past successes. For example, we are doing much more with apprenticeships than we ever have and this is just the start.”

“The same goes for my own development, too. Since coming back, I have gained a much more solid understanding of apprenticeships and how they work. I have started an apprenticeship myself (Level 3 HR CIPD) and I’m really enjoying it.”

Before we wrapped up our interview, we asked Emma what she would tell others who are considering joining or returning to Munnelly Group.

Emma told us that the group is a “great company to be a part of”. Because there are many brands under the Munnelly Group name, this makes it ripe for career development opportunities. Emma said, “Seeing all the business units collaborating is very exciting, as is seeing the opportunities we have for the group.”

Thank you, Emma, for sharing your story. With your apprenticeship and HR qualifications, the sky’s the limit and we can’t wait to see where you go next!
